Personal Quotes
I like all types of music, I respect people who are all-round entertainers like Robbie Williams and George Michael.

In a nutshell
Duncan from Blue (or, to give him his full title, Duncan James who used to be in Blue) is one of those rare talents. An all-round entertainer with endless charm and public appeal. Except, it seems, when it comes around to releasing a solo album.
Brought up by his mother and grandparents, Duncan first arrived in the spotlight with boyband Blue. They were edgy, they were pop, they were... not very good. They did alright, though, for a while and scored 11 top 10 singles. But after a few years the guys decided to go their separate ways. However, in 2009 there was an announcement which sent shockwaves through those who cared ? Blue were going to reform! Since then, nothing much has happened. What a letdown!
What does one do when their band breaks up? Get a solo career, of course! To give him credit, he did manage a number 2 single with 'I Believe My Heart', a duet with Keedie. But from that point on the only way was down. His first 'proper' solo single, 'Sooner or Later', charted at number 35 before tumbling straight out of the charts. Not to worry, the second single came along and hit the dizzy heights of number 59. It wasn't long until Duncan got dumped. From his record label, that is.
Luckily, in this multichannel age, there's always plenty of awful TV programmes looking for presenters and Duncan seized this golden opportunity. He presented ITV2's 'backstage' coverage of Soapstar Superstar, popped up on the National Lottery draws (mostly midweek) and has even appeared in one episode of The Bill.
In July 2009 James shocked the collective world by declaring himself as one of those bisexuals in an interview with the News of the World. After a few minutes taking in the news, the world resumed as normal.
At the moment Duncan has a starring role in the new West End musical, Legally Blonde. Yes, that's right. It exists. We're not sure how long into 2010 it'll survive for, but we're taking bets now...

Did you know?

James has a daughter called Tianie-Finne (no, that's not a typo).
One quarter of the British boy band Blue, Duncan James was born April 7, 1978, in Salisbury, England, and raised by his grandparents in Dorset. After high school, James moved to London to pursue a career in music, where he met up with friends and future bandmates Anthony Costa, Simon Webbe, and Lee Ryan. In May 2001 Blue released their first single, and over the next four years the group sold millions of albums both in Great Britain and across Europe. In 2005, though no official announcement was ever made, Blue split up, and each of the members began working on solo projects (though a single by James -- actually a duet with Keedie -- I Believe My Heart, from Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman in White, had already come out in England in 2004). In the spring of 2006 James' true first single, Sooner or Later, was released, followed soon after by the full-length Future Past. Though the album didn't chart as high in Britain as Blue's had, it did do well in places like Italy and Belgium, where he (and his former band) had a strong, mostly female, fan base. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide

Biographic :

Born in Dorset April 7th 1978, at 13 he moved to Devon where he was raised by his mother and his grandparents.
Music always played a central role in Duncan’s life with his grandfather being a music teacher and his mother’s love of musical theatre, they often travelled to London’s West End together.
He studied A level Drama and received great reviews for his amateur dramatic performances. After taking a GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism, he took a job with Haven Holidays, who recognised his talents and soon he became the lead male vocalist for nightly shows at several of their locations around the UK.
Whilst on the audition circuit, Duncan encountered Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe and Antony Costa, discovering their shared musical tastes and compatibilities the logical step was to create music and a style that suited the guys talents.
Blue was born and was immediately signed to Innocent Records.
Blue was an instant success, the timing was perfect.
They exploded on to the scene in May 2001 with the unforgettable All Rise debuting at #4, and follow up single Too Close going straight to the top of the charts.
It was a meteoric rise to fame for the foursome becoming the hottest new act to emerge in the UK in years with their unmistakable sound of R&B influence pop and melodious ballads.
Blue has amassed huge commercial success, racking up 40 No. 1 singles worldwide, 3 No.1 UK albums and sales of over 13 million records.
There have been many highlights for Duncan during his partnership with Blue, however, dueting with Stevie Wonder on his classic Signed Sealed Delivered and Sir Elton John on Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word , rank in his top ten along with acknowledgement from the industry receiving two BRIT awards for Best Newcomer 2002 and Best Pop Act 2003.
The guys decided to take a break from the band to pursue other interests .
Duncan was asked by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber to record a duet with Pop Opera sensation Keedie I believe my Heart from A Woman in White it reached No.2

In addition to pursuing his music talents, Duncan is a regular host of The National Lottery and has presented on Soapstar Superstar, Capital FM’s Party in the Park, City Hospital, T4, The Clothes Show , GMTV’s Entertainment Today and on Capital Radio where he hosted Duncan's JukeBox

In 2007 Duncan took up the challenge of competing in ITV’s Dancing on Ice where he became a finalist and participated in the following sell out tour in arenas across the UK.
Duncan was thrilled to be offered the part of Billy Flynn in the hit musical Chicago, which he starred in during summer 07, reprising the role for an additional 10 week run from December to February 08.
He has just completed filming Plus One a hilarious new sitcom from Kudos Productions commissioned for Channel 4. The show was chosen as the winner from 6 pilots screened last autumn in 'Channel 4 Comedy Showcase'
He plays a tongue in cheek characterization of his Blue persona named throughout as 'Duncan-from-Blue' also starring the talents of Daniel May & Nigel Harmon Scheduled to air in January 09.

Duncan is currently filming a new show, Wish List for ITV1 with Ant & Decs production company.

Duncan : I'm a shy...

Dunc: I'm shy with my dates

FORMER Blue star Duncan James has admitted he's a shy guy when it comes to the opposite sex.

Duncan, 29, is starring in a one-off sitcom on Channel 4 in which he parodies himself.
In Plus One, Duncan plays 'Duncan-from-Blue' - a boyband member who marries a girl who has dumped her boyfriend to be with him.
The appearance comes hot off the back of his starring role in the West End production of Chicago, in which he played Billy Flynn.
But, in real life Duncan says he's a million miles away from the ladies man he was portrayed to be during his time with Blue.
"I'm actually really shy when it comes to dating. I'm not really confident at all. When it comes to chatting someone up, I'm really nervous. I'm not the kind of guy who would go out and pull a girl, take her home and snog her."
"I'm not the character I was perceived as playing in Blue," he continued.
"We were all given characters - Lee was the cheeky one, Duncan was the ladies' man - and we all had different roles to play. The stories would come out to hype up our images. It wasn't necessarily us, but that was what the record company wanted," he said.
But, he relished the opportunity to lampoon his boyband persona in the Channel 4 show and hopes viewers will appreciate his efforts.
"The programme makers wanted me to play this character 'Duncan-From-Blue'," he explained. "It's very tongue in cheek.
"This is a great opportunity to have a go at something different and take the mickey out of myself and hopefully people will watch it and think it's funny.
"I love the fact that everyone calls me Duncan-From-Blue on the show," he laughed, "because that's what people call me! They come up to me and don't say 'It's Duncan James', or 'There's that guy Duncan'. They come right up to my face and say 'Hi Duncan-From-Blue'."
And, despite recent rumours, Duncan said that the boys are NOT about to get back together.
"I'm at a place in my life where I wouldn't want to go back, even if it means I was skint and didn't have a job. I'd rather go into management, or producing and directing. I don't want to step back into that life again."
The former pop star now makes regular appearances on TV presenting the National Lottery, as well as his stage ambitions, which could take him to Broadway if the show's producers get their way.
"They want to bring me to do it on Broadway. They're really excited about bringing me over, making a story out of it and getting on the telly there. I'm waiting to see what happens," he added.
